Discover Dr. Leclerc\u2019s project focused on developing a platform to innovate therapeutic vaccines .<\/p>\n<p>Despite recent progress in vaccine research and development, particularly highlighted during the pandemic, a critical need remains: an integrated platform to effectively support researchers and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the design and development of subunit vaccines and novel adjuvants, from laboratory discovery through to clinical applications.<\/p>\n<p>The VaxSynergy initiative addresses this need by establishing a next-generation bioengineering and biomanufacturing platform that will bring together complementary expertise to create a unique collaborative ecosystem in Qu\u00e9bec. This integrated platform will streamline discovery processes, reduce development delays, and accelerate the transition from scientific concepts to clinical proof of concept.<\/p>\n<p>VaxSynergy is distinguished by its portfolio of novel adjuvants and the integration of an essential protein for conjugate vaccines. By combining these components with scalable production methods and artificial intelligence\u2013driven approaches, the platform aims to enhance the efficacy, stability, and speed of vaccine development.<\/p>\n<p>Expected outcomes include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Providing researchers and SMEs with access to integrated tools and services for vaccine design and testing;<\/li>\n<li>Optimizing antigen\u2013adjuvant coupling and exploring alternative delivery methods such as nebulization;<\/li>\n<li>Generating regulatory-compliant documentation to facilitate clinical translation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This activity brings together a broad multidisciplinary team:<br \/>\n<strong><em>Academic researchers:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Denis Leclerc \u2013 Universit\u00e9 Laval \/ CHU de Qu\u00e9bec<\/li>\n<li>Steve Bourgault \u2013 UQAM<\/li>\n<li>Laurent Cappadocia \u2013 UQAM<\/li>\n<li>Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Lemay \u2013 CNETE<\/li>\n<li>Philippe Tessier \u2013 Universit\u00e9 Laval<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>Industrial and strategic partners:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/glycovax.com\/\">Glycovax Pharma Inc.<\/a>, platform for immunoconjugates and SLA adjuvants<\/li>\n<li>Courtois Foundation<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/fondationduchudequebec.org\/\">Fondation du CHU de Qu\u00e9bec<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/proteo.ca\/\">Strategic Cluster PROTEO<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>By providing Qu\u00e9bec researchers with an integrated, collaborative infrastructure, VaxSynergy will drive vaccine innovation, reduce dependence on foreign technologies, and strengthen Qu\u00e9bec\u2019s capacity to respond rapidly to public health needs.<\/p>\n<p>This activity is supported by the Government of Qu\u00e9bec through M\u00e9dicament Qu\u00e9bec, which is investing <strong>$1.5M<\/strong>. An additional <strong>$0.8M<\/strong> is provided by industrial partners, for a total investment of <strong>$2.3M<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a
