Médicament Québec Invests $1.2 Million in Four Industry–Academia Collaborations to Accelerate Drug Development

October 20, 2026 – News from Médicament Québec

Montréal, QC, October 20, 2026 – Médicament Québec is proud to announce a $1.2 million investment, made possible through the support of the Ministère de l’Économie, de l’Innovation et de l’Énergie (MEIE), in four collaborative research projects bringing together academic researchers and Québec-based companies. Including contributions from industry partners, these projects represent a total investment of $2.5 million under the Industrial Access to Academic Platforms program.

This funding program aims to address industry needs by facilitating access to academic expertise, equipment, and infrastructure, while developing sustainable, collaborative capabilities that will benefit the broader drug and vaccine ecosystem.

The four projects supported under the program are:

  1. Prof. Marc-André Fortin (CHU de Québec Research Centre, Université Laval), Aramis Biotechnologies Inc., and Feldan Therapeutics:
Accelerating the generation of reliable scientific data in nanomedicine through an advanced microscopy service for Québec companies in the vaccine and pharmaceutical sectors.
  1. Prof. Peter M. Siegel (Goodman Cancer Institute, McGill University) and 9Bio Therapeutiques:
An integrated ADC development platform connecting antibody engineering, critical quality attributes, and translational performance for Québec’s biotechnology ecosystem.
  1. Prof. Grégoire Leclair (Université de Montréal) and Medisca Pharmaceutique Inc.:
Toward sustainable pharmaceutical autonomy: Structuring and standardizing pharmaceutical compounding in Québec.
  1. Prof. Marc-André Legault (CHU Sainte-Justine), Groupe Sorintellis Inc., and Vantage Biotrials Inc.:
Artificial intelligence to optimize clinical trial protocols and study design.

“These projects are driven by concrete industry needs, which academic teams address by leveraging their expertise and infrastructure. Our goal is to go beyond meeting immediate needs and develop sustainable, accessible platforms and capabilities that can ultimately benefit Québec’s entire drug and vaccine ecosystem,” said Arianne Trudeau, Executive Director of Médicament Québec.

Beyond this investment, Médicament Québec aims to maximize the use and impact of Québec’s academic infrastructure, accelerate the translation of research into practical applications, and strengthen long-term partnerships between academia and industry.
