Médicament Québec Launches New Program to Support the Long-Term Sustainability of Academic Platforms

Montreal, Quebec, September 21, 2026 — Médicament Québec is launching a call for applications today as part of its new Academic Platform Sustainability and Valorization Program, an initiative designed to support the development of Quebec’s academic scientific platforms, increase their use, and foster their long-term sustainability.
Universities, research centres, and other public research institutions across Quebec have access to state-of-the-art infrastructure, equipment, and scientific expertise that play an essential role in research and innovation related to drug and vaccine discovery. Fully leveraging the potential of these resources will help capitalize on the expertise developed within these institutions and maximize their impact throughout Quebec’s life sciences ecosystem.

By supporting their development, structuring, and valorization, we can both maximize the potential of our platforms and contribute to their long-term sustainability, while giving Quebec companies better access to the expertise and resources they need to advance their innovations,” said Arianne Trudeau, Executive Director of Médicament Québec.
A 16-month support program to develop a business plan
Up to six academic platforms will be selected to receive 16 months of support to develop a business plan tailored to their realities and ambitions. Through a combination of training, workshops, mentorship, and group sessions, the program will help participants develop their intrapreneurial and entrepreneurial skills and provide them with practical tools to better leverage their platforms, structure their development, and contribute to their long-term sustainability.
Participants will work to refine their value proposition, define their business model, better understand their clients and market, develop and structure the various components of their business plan, and strengthen their competence to present and communicate the value of their service offering.
A program for platforms and teams looking to advance their development
The program is open to existing academic platforms offering expertise, equipment, infrastructure, or specialized services relevant to drug and vaccine discovery and development, and seeking to develop, structure, or increase the value and impact of their activities their activities to maximize their potential and foster their long-term sustainability.
Researchers who already provide specialized services and are looking to structure their activities to evolve toward a platform model in this field are also invited to apply.
